After 40 Years Of Silence

Portraits of Pre-Olympic Chinese Citizens (2005, analogue)

It was the second of june, when I entered ‘Pre-Olympic China’. China was preparing for the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008. The government of ‘The Peoples Republic’ moved many citizens from their poor neighboorhoods at remote places. But all of China was changing; companies and expats from abroad settled. Despite that, there was still a major languange-barrier at that moment and it seemed, as if they had never seen a European before.

China looked at me, I looked at the Chinese.
